Attitudes of Nursing Students towards Expansion of Nursing Roles

Abstract
The research questions of interest in this study were : (a) To determine the acceptance of the concepts of restructuring the delivery system by nursing students. (b) To know nursing students¡¯ attitudes about specific roles and responsibilities of the primary health care providers. The subjects in this study consisted of a total of 155 junior and senior nursing students. The following results were obtained from the questionaire written by Wan Soon Kim(1977); 1. Respondents highly accepted the nurse¡¯s new functions and viewed nurses as primary health care providers. 2. Sixth ercent of the respondents wanted to be the primary care nurses. 3. Most of respondents recognized requirements for nursing manpower in the community health and interested in enlightment and education of the community residents. 4. To be effective and practical in independent nursing practice, students need more opportunities to increase their primary nursing care skills.
